Not always.
For simpler projects involving pathways, fences, drainage improvements, irrigation installations, or small patios, construction can often move forward without a formal design process.
For larger or more complex projects, a landscape design helps create a cohesive plan for layout, materials, grading, plantings, and outdoor spaces. A clear plan often saves time, reduces costly changes during construction, and helps ensure the final result meets your expectations. -
Can you work my project in phases?
Yes. We can develop a phased approach that allows key elements to be built first while leaving room for future additions. This approach can help spread investment over time while maintaining a cohesive long-term vision for the property.

Do you have experience working in Seattle’s environmentally critical areas (ECAs)?
Yes. We have experience building landscape projects in Environmentally Critical Areas (ECAs), including steep slopes, wetlands and other types of ECAs.
In fact, one of our ECA projects received a Grand Award from the Washington Association of Landscape Professionals (WALP) for its craftsmanship and thoughtful execution (link to project).
Working in ECAs often involves additional permitting requirements, environmental regulations, and coordination with engineers or other specialists. These projects can be more complex and may require additional time before construction can begin.

How do you approach drainage during construction projects?
Water management is one of the most important aspects of landscape construction in Seattle.
